What types of Land Rover models do you do?
Any classic Land Rover Defender, Series or Range Rover Classic models.
Can I bring my own Defender for customisation, or do you provide donor vehicles?
Yes, you can either provide your own vehicle as the donor or we can source a vehicle for you. We have access to left & right hand donor vehicles to meet your needs.
How long does a typical custom build take?
Typically a build takes around 12 months to complete from point of order but this can vary slightly on a number of factors.
Do you offer both interior and exterior customisation options?
Yes, every area of the car is customisable, including the interior & exterior.
Do you offer electric vehicles?
Yes, we are proud to work with Electrogenic who have produced a number of kits that we are able to offer.
How involved can I be in the design process of my custom Defender?
The design process is one of the most fun & enjoyable parts of our process. You have the ability to be heavily involved in all aspects of your car's design.
Do you provide progress updates during the build?
Yes, you are kept up to date throughout the build via our app. The app allows you direct access to talk to the person building your car.
What quality control measures do you have in place?
We have a robust QC process in place that involves several different phases and is tested over 500 miles. One of the best QC measures is the fact that your car is built by one person, from a bare chassis to the final bolt being tightened, ensuring both control & accountability.
Can I visit your workshop to see my vehicle during the build?
Yes, as part of our process we invite you to visit during the build to see its quality for yourself. We can also help accommodate your visit with a stay at The Swinton Estate.
Do you source original Land Rover parts or use aftermarket components?
Where possible we use original Land Rover parts. Some parts are no longer available in which case we use OEM, where available.
What is the typical price range for one of your custom Retro Defenders?
As our cars are often one of a kind the price can vary dramatically. However, as a guide our vehicles start from £140,000.
Do you offer any financing options?
We don’t offer financing options on our vehicles.
Are there additional costs for shipping the completed vehicle?
Yes, various shipping options are available depending on your location, which again can vary depending on your choice. Don’t worry, we work on your behalf to arrange shipping from door to door.
Do you require a deposit, and if so, how much?
Yes, the initial deposit is 35% of the total, due upon agreeing the purchase of your new car. A further 35% is due when we strip your donor car (usually around 4 months after the first deposit) followed by the final 30% which is due upon completion of the build prior to shipping.
Are there any ongoing maintenance costs I should be aware of?
We recommend servicing the vehicle on a yearly basis or every 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. Every 4 years or 40,000 miles your differential oil & gearbox oil should be replaced.
Do you offer a warranty on your custom builds?
We offer a 24 month or 40,000 mile warranty from the date of shipping.
Do you provide servicing for the vehicles you've built?
Yes, we can help arrange collection and delivery of your car for servicing & maintenance for customers based throughout the UK. Unfortunately, international customers will need to use alternative services but we are still on hand for support.
Can I order spare parts for my Retro Defender through you?
Yes, if you purchased a Retro vehicle we can supply you with spare parts.
Do you offer any post-purchase upgrades or modifications?
Yes, we can assist in upgrading or modifying your Retro Defender although we aim to get the specification right the first time!
How do I schedule maintenance for my custom Defender?
